I wanted to really saturate the color so it was more then just reflected light from a sunset hitting these trees, but that you could actually see the sunset happening behind you.  I really pushed the boundries even with composition, and I love how it came together.

There is something spiritual about a grove of trees, espesially aspens and birch.  The way they creek and the wind makes the leaves shimmer while you are high on a mountain top.  I love painting the upward perspective because I have always been in a special frame of mind when I stop and look around, and just take in my surroundins.  Taking the time to lay down and just see the world for it’s beauty.  To stop and smell the roses.

The pines and fir trees remind me of being in the mountains in Idaho.  They stretch all across the north west and are probably the most memorable thing about the mountains where I love to camp, fish and hunt.
