I have painted the Grand Canyon several times now.  Everyone who photographs it complains about the color being lost.  I clearly went the other direction where to really give the feeling of awe that is there, as I do with most subjects, I punch the color and texture.

In college I was shown many techniques that I admired from many professors.  Most of my formal education however forced me into their style and eventually I was painting more like everyone else.  It wasn`t until I left Utah State that I perfected my own style.
