I am using my site as a blog and a sales source. Most of my recent paintings will be posted here or at the galley. I will also try and keep a log of where I will be showing my artwork and any new information for those venues. So far I am looking to a very busy year and a possible merger in our gallery. My artwork is featured primarily in Sievers Gallery that rivals any Scottsdale location. It is right on main st. with a beautiful space located at 7165 E Main.
Fun Groupings
These are some of the most playful paintings I have ever done. I had painted some fish for a patron of both my father and mine that was so much fun. They had turned out great so I wanted to continue playing with the simplistic paintings in a grouping.
I started using high contrast in textures, letting the brush work read as water and pallet knife as scales and flowing fins. The colors of course add to the whimsical quality of the painting on top of a gold background. The yellow outline in the painting is actually gold underlay like you would find in a Gustav Klimt, if he had painted a fun piece for your beach house for example. The only way to really describe these paintings is just fun.

The "Contemporary Butterflies" are painted in the same manner as my fish, letting the textures create the contrasts. I work in a pattern of thick to thin. The outlines may become form or completely disappear. The paint will go from flat brush to textured to layered pallet knife. Even the colors will go from vibrant to flat. Trying to push the contrasts in every way making a unique look for a fauvist style.

Each of these, both my fish and butterflies measure 10x10 inches and are painted on gallery wrap canvas. I am asking for $390 for each oil painting and would love to do a commission piece.

Still Drying, this painting of poppies (left- obviously) will be hung
in Sievers Gallery this Thursday night at the Patron Night at an entry price. I framed it in an amazing copper Lenan Johnson frame- with asymmetrical lines it is truly a piece you must see in person. “Through the Branches” was painted during a demonstration at the Celebration of Fine Art show in Scottsdale and will also be in the gallery these next few weeks. The poppies were painted with a gold under coat that react with the eye as a gem cut and set on a ring, once placed in one of these immaculate frames. The aspens however are the exact opposite, painted on a deep venetian red that ties the color pallet and makes the thick oils sing on a low light.
